Eight years have passed since the First Carlist War of 1833. In a small Álava village, a government commissioner called Alfredo investigates an occurrence which will take him to a sinister smithery deep in the forest, home to a dangerous and solitary blacksmith called Patxi. The locals tell dark tales related to thefts, murders and pacts with the Devil. Until one day, by chance, a little orphaned girl called Usue sneaks into the mysterious forge, uncovering the terrible truth hidden behind Patxi the Blacksmith.
Since a very young age, Paul Urkijo Alijo has harboured a great love for cinema, illustration, literature and comics. In 2008 he graduated in Fine Arts, going on to make audiovisuals, illustration and infographics. This led to him starting to write and direct his own fictional and animated shorts, which have harvested 85 awards at home and abroad. One of them, Los monstruos no existen, was presented at the San Sebastian Festival in 2012. Errementari, based on the popular Basque fable, Patxi Errementaria, is his first feature film.
