The feature film Tender Loving Care (UK), directed by Mike Leigh, wins not only the Golden Shell of the San Sebastián Festival's 74th edition, but also the Jury Prize for Best Screenplay, penned by Leigh himself. The film by the British filmmaker also carries off the Silver Shell for Best Leading Performance by actress Kate O'Flynn, an award she bags ex aequo with Asta Kamma August for her role in Markens grøde / Growth of the Soil (Norway-Denmark-Germany). This work, directed by Hans Petter Moland, also wins the Jury Prize for Best Cinematography going to Oskar Dahlsbakken.

The Special Jury Prize goes to Bian Jing / Border (Hong Kong-USA-South Korea), directed by Ah Biao, author of a film qualified as "bold in both cinematic form and sexual explicitness that in the confidence of its vision reveals a major new voice in world cinema".

The Silver Shell for Best Director goes to Amanda Kernell, author of Garrat du váimmu / Brace Your Heart (Sweden-Norway-Denmark-Iceland-Bulgaria), while Javier Cámara garners the Silver Shell for Best Supporting Performance for his work in 5 minutos más / 5 More Minutes (Spain). The Spanish actor previously landed the Silver Shell ex aequo with Ricardo Darín, his co-star in Truman (2015).

The filmmaker Ira Sachs presided over the official jury tasked with deciding the awards alongside the director and screenwriter Genki Kawamura, the screenwriter Catherine Paillé, the actress and producer Alice Braga, the actress Patricia López Arnaiz, the actor Bill Skarsgård and the producer Mike Goodridge.

OTHER OFFICIAL AWARDS

Body of Glass (Germany-France), the debut feature from Naëmi Ada, has garnered the Kutxabank-New Directors Award, whose jury included a special mention for The World Before (South Korea-Japan-France), the second feature from Yoon Dan-bi.

The Horizontes Make & Mark Award and the DAMA Youth Award go to La ilusión de un verano sin fin / The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer (Argentina-USA), the debut from Alessandra Sanguinetti which formerly won the Golden Leopard of its section, Cineasti del Presente, as well as Best First Feature at the Locarno Festival. The special mention is for Moscas / Flies (Mexico-Spain), with which Fernando Eimbcke won the 2025 WIP Latam Industry Award in San Sebastián and which competed at the Berlinale this year.

The Zabaltegi-Tabakalera Award goes to Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (USA-Canada), the film by Jane Schoenbrun selected for Un Certain Regard at the Festival de Cannes and winner of the Queer Palm. The special mention is for the feature film A veces me entra tristeza, otras veces rebelión / Sometimes Sadness, Sometimes Rebellion (Argentina-Spain), which landed Maria Aparicio the Giornate degli Autori Director's Award at the Venice Festival.

The short film Dihapus dari peta / Erased from the Map (Indonesia), by Maarij Reka (Film & Television Institute Art Indonesia Yogyakarta, Indonesia), wins the Tabakalera Film and Audiovisual Laboratory-Nest Award, which gives a special mention to Ningú borda / Nobody Barks (Spain), by Júlia Coldwell Serra (ESCAC, Spain).

The new SGAE Award for Best Original Music, going to one of the films competing in the Official Selection, is for Amine Bouhafa, who authored the score of 7h40 ce matin-là / Milo (France), directed by Nicole Garcia.

Burgundy (USA), the feature film from Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw premiered in the Venice Open section of the Venice Festival, harvests the Culinary Zinema Award, while Txakun txakür (France-Spain), directed by Elsa Oliarj-Inès, wins the Irizar Basque Film Award.

The City of Donostia / San Sebastián Audience Award decided by spectators of the Perlak section goes to La bola negra (Spain-France), the film by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi which carried off the Best Director Award in Cannes ex aequo with Pawel Pawlikowski (Vaterland / Fatherland). In addition, the Audience Award for Best European film goes to NAZA, by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, winner of the Special Jury Prize at Venice.

Lastly, the Eusko Label Award goes to the short films Esperantza (Hope) (Spain) and Eskuak / Hands (Spain), garnering the first and second prizes respectively for Josu Ozaita and Mikel Urretabizkaia. Furthermore, in the competition for short films on social topics, the first work recognised with the Loterías Award is Prejuicios (Spain), by Javi Praca, and the second, Headscarf (Spain), by Lucía Saavedra.
