César, a handsome and confident boy, is invited to spend Christmas in the countryside with Aurelia and Clementina, two middle-aged sisters with a series of frustrated love-stories behind them. They live with Ana, a twenty-year-old niece who has just spent some time in a convent. Jacobo, a deformed and slightly simple boy, works as their servant and guardian. César's liking for Ana comes to a tragic ending.

Antonio and José share the same social and unemployment problems. José is in love with Rosario, Antonio's sister, who falls pregnant. The problem is equally worrying for the three of them, so the good friends look for a solution together. Oscar, a boxing promoter, totally dominates the sporting lives and will of two young champions, Miguel and José. The two boxers are good friends, but Oscar succeeds in making them fight against each other when Miguel states that he is going to marry Elena, a young woman under Oscar's protection and with whom he is in love. Miguel loses the fight with José, but Elena stands by him and it is Young Miranda, Miguel's trainer, who takes vengeance.

Roberto Orbea is in prison for belonging to an illegal left-wing party. There he meets Nes, with whom he has a homosexual relationship. On getting out, he finds that his party has been made legal and is elected deputee. The extreme right-wing prepares a campaign of slander against him based on his homosexuality. But in the end it is Roberto himself who decides to publicly assume the truth about his sex life.

Paco is the son of Civil Guard commanding officer Evaristo Torrecuadrada and Urko, his schoolfriend, is the son of the Basque nationalist leader Martín Aramendía. The two boys are drug addicts who deal to get their dose and end up committing a crime. Their parents have to put their political differences to one side in view of the severity of the problem that affects them both.

In an attempt to help him, his father asks to be moved to Madrid, but Paco is finally arrested and taken to Carabanchel prison. Marta's suspicions grow wilder, but are nothing like as bad as the truth.

The first narrates the adventures of the reckless mermaid who, in spite of Neptune's warnings, turns into a woman but doesn't succeed in making the prince fall in love with her. The second is the story of the brave young boy who has to pull three hairs out of the devil's beard if he wants to marry the princess. The last story is about the frightened lion, the scarecrow and the tin man who recover their self-confidence thanks to a wizard with no magical powers.

Their teacher, Don Luis, discovers their plan and succeeds in convincing them to come to his house, which is inhabited by another old student called Jaime who lives under his influence. The three teenagers are obliged to put up with all kinds of humiliation, and cannot escape, so they hatch a plot to get rid of Don Luis.

The thieves take Mrs. Justa and her niece Angeles as hostages and lock themselves in.

Juan, who works in a petrol station, is about to marry Charo, his girlfriend. Diana, a rich client of the petrol station, is married to an important man called Marcos. Diana wants to have a child, but her husband is sterile, so she decides to use Juan by making him think she's in love with him. Diana succeeds in falling pregnant by Juan, which is when the problems start between the two men, both of whom want to be the father of the forthcoming baby.

Marcos, a young worker who lives in a shack, gets into an argument with a taxi-driver and ends up killing him during a fight. During the tragical week that follows, Marcos kills the people who discover the murder one after the other to avoid being found out. But someone has witnessed all of his crimes: Néstor, a neighbour who lives in a nearby apartment block, and who spends his time following the movements of the people in the shanty town through binoculars. Néstor's attraction for Marcos keeps him from reporting the crimes and the two finally meet.

Paco is a bank employee is affected by the atmosphere of insecurity in the city caused by the proliferation of hold-ups and robberies. Paco and his family do the same as several of their neighbours: they hole up inside their house and develop mechanisms of self-defence, such as reinforced doors, an anti-theft alarm in the car, armed guards at night... Sometimes, these systems are more dangerous than the fear itself, creating tragicomical situations.

Elisa is in the process of trying to break off her relationship with her protector, Oscar, when she accidentally finds herself involved in a murder scene. Miguel, the murderer, obliges her to help him get rid of the body of the woman he says was his wife. Elisa agrees and becomes increasingly involved with Miguel until, after having spent the night together, he is found dead. It is Miguel's wife, who wasn't really dead, who tells Elisa the truth.

He is arrested several times, although he always manages to escape, but his luck changes just when his son is about to come into the world.
